I shall be dead honest.

What I get by writing on Quora ?

  1. A bit of ego boost : I am a mathematician and NOT a writer.

I used to read a lot of novels when I was in grade 6th. I used to create my own stories and used to narrate them to my younger brothers and friends. They used to pay me 1/- per day to listen to my stories. Mind you 1/- was a handsome amount in those days and that to for kids of that age!

I am well aware of my analytical skills and I am quite content with that.Like every innocent kid, I too had a dream of becoming a poet and a storyteller.

I used to read a lot of novels when I was in grade 6th. I used to create my own stories and used to narrate them to my younger brothers and friends. They used to pay me 1/- per day to listen to my stories. Mind you 1/- was a handsome amount in those days and that to for kids of that age!

Soon I lost my way (Due to various pressures and blackmails!). I was submerged in mathematics and reason. After so long I found Quora and that innocent writer started taking shape again.

Those who don’t write regularly or even occasionally may get surprised to know how well they can write.Start writing and soon you will improve. You mind will start relating and learning.

Thus that little ‘ego’ is satisfied every time I write and people appreciate. It is not exactly ego satisfaction but a sort of ‘self boost’.

2. Sense of relief in sharing whatever I know : Every body is a writer.Very few know it!

Those who don’t write regularly or even occasionally may get surprised to know how well they can write.Start writing and soon you will improve. You mind will start relating and learning. I write because I know that we all are here for a very short time. We all will go with empty hands. Lets us give whatever we have back to the society in whatever little way possible.

Sharing is caring (Quoted by Miss Universe Sushmita sen in her commencement speech).

3. Connecting with people : I get messages from people whom I never met. They like my answers or whatever but they connect. Connection is love. Some times I am flattered by openness and ingenuity of people. They are so lavish with praise that I feel really elated and out of the world at times.

4. Venting out of inner most feelings : Some times we are afraid to open our heart to acquaintances as they might judge us, might form adverse opinions etc. Here on Quora, I can talk about any one and any thing. Most I can get is a harsh comment or down vote. But in either way it is not going to affect my personal relations with any one I know out side of Quora.

Whenever I write anything personal,

We self introspect when we write. It is very very difficult to fake while writing and that too on Quora.

that emotion gets cleared from my mind. At least I have said it all. Now I can’t be blamed for any thing like not speaking my heart out. I am guilt free.

5. Self Introspection : We self introspect when we write. It is very very difficult to fake while writing and that too on Quora. We fake to the world to save ourselves. Here no veil is required.I often reread my own answers and often wonder ‘who’ is the one who writes all these answers. The Quora personality is something deep hidden in us.

6. Better use of time : Its better to waste time on Quora than on FB!

Quora allows me to sync with ‘real me’. That’s all.
