Rejected for being overqualified

I never ever applied or appeared for a government job interview except once.I was selected in written examination of an interview post of a big Indian financial government organization.I already had experience in education field for about 8 years.

The interviewers were very nice. The interview started on warm note. They asked about my experience etc.. They asked me why I want a government job. I told them that it would help me to stay in my hometown. After evaluating my job profile and my CV, they just said ‘you will waste your talent over here’. You shouldn’t join!

I said ‘Are you politely refusing me ?’ They said ‘Its not required at all ?’ Why would we do that ?. They told me that government job is stable but very boring. They suggested me to opt out!. They told me that I can earn much more in five years out of the job than in the job in whole life.

I am glad they were right. Private sector is very difficult in the beginning but very rewarding in the end. You will never believe that you hard work pays very well after sometime. Keep the faith.
