9 bitter truths about life in India

I shall be brutally honest.Exceptions are always there.

1. India is a country of many brilliant people. Having said that , India is also a grossly hypocrite country.
   • We want our daughters, sisters to never be in a relationship but always want girl friends for ourselves.
   • Indians love sex. Every body does. But we are so secretive about it that it is a crime to speak about sex any where.
   • Those people who stop others on Valentine’s Day from having girl friends are also the ones who never had any girlfriend. They are more desperate than anyone else.Ya to tu meri, ya main bajrang dal ka![pullquote]We are a ‘social media activism’ country. Its is very easy for all of us to bash anyone and anything on social media from the comfort of our homes. How many of us really vote ?[/pullquote]
   • Social media activism : People bashing most on social media about cleanliness, femininity, anti dowry, save girl child,child labor,girl empowerment,changing governments etc. do the exact opposite in private!. We are a ‘social media activism’ country. Its is very easy for all of us to bash anyone and anything on social media from the comfort of our homes. How many of us really vote ?
2. Corruption is in our blood : No matter how hard we are vocal about anti corruption, again on social media, we do not hesitate even for a second to offer 1000/- to TTC in railways for a berth!. Similar examples everywhere. We promote bribery. If everyone stops giving bribes from today onwards, I don’t think the bribery will survive.
3. Class divide (Based on socio-economic status) is omnipresent : Whatever we may bash (bark) publicly, economic divisions are everywhere. People are dying and we are joking!. 4. Taking everything in light humor : There is a recent trend in social media and else where that we take very serious issues in light sense and blow the seriousness away. People are dying and we are joking!. Whenever there is any large scam, we just laugh at ‘So sorry’ kind of cartoons!. We have been looted of our hard work in lacs and crores and we are just laughing!. You, I and our future generations. We are sitting in our couches and laughing!

Forget tier two cities,in Mumbai I have seen bikers driving in the middle of busy highway!. Lanes are meant to be a show piece only.Signals are made to be broken and every one is a ‘Nawab’ on road.
6. No personal life : I am not saying about Metros like Mumbai, but everywhere else ‘Moral policing’ is duty of every one. If our brave young men and moral ‘security guards’ find a bunch of men harassing and molesting a woman or girl, they may not utter a word. But if the same people find a guy and a girl holding hands only, god, they are dead!. Neighbors are more interested in your life, more interested in marks of your kids, more interested in knowing the reason ‘why your daughter is not getting married even when she is 28! (A major social concern in India)’. You are judged every where. A girl wears a sari, she is a ‘behenji’. A girl wearing ‘mini’, ohh that slut! (Ladki haath se nikal gayi!). [pullquote]We hold Phd in fakeness.    • Faking smiles (Specially with our ever ‘jealous’ relatives).
   • Faking sympathy : Ohh you lost your job! so sad. But inside there is a wicked happiness (Bahut udd raha tha. Ab le Honda city!)
   • Fake love! : Yes we are also masters in faking love. I love you jaanu (Inside; aaj to paka diya!). I only love you (Checking messages or other girl/boy friends!).I love you from bottom of my heart (and till bottom of your pocket!). But again as I said in the beginning ‘exceptions are always there’.
   • Fake conversations : We all know that most of the conversations today are ‘fake’. Whenever someone calls us , we think in our mind ‘why he called today ?, might be some work!’. I think strangers are best friends we have today!. Rishi Kapoor said long time back ‘Its a plastic world’. How true. We are more utilitarian than ever (Quoted by Khushwant Singh in an interview)
8. Reservation evil : Very few societies are there which support reservation based on caste and creed!. I need not write more about its perils but isn’t it an irony that in the last century people were fighting to become equal to upper class. 9. Bashing India : This may look paradoxical in the context of this answer, but we Indians bash our country every where but take no step to correct it!. We will shout about ‘no reservation’ every where but look out for some ‘jugad’ to get some sort of reservation, may be in ‘freedom fighter’ quota!

India is a great country and people are really good at heart, hard-working,considerate and intelligent (No doubts about that anywhere, Indians rock). The system needs to be cured and nothing else.
